FAQs

How much will my project cost?
Each job is different. It depends on many factors such as where the tree is located
on your property, the size of the tree, type of equipment needed, proximity to any
structures like the house, shed, power lines etc, what type of clean up you need –
chipping, grinding, branch removal etc. This is why it’s important that we see every
job in person. It can’t be done accurately over the phone. We’re happy to give you
a free estimate at a convenient time for you.
How can I save money on my job?
Some customers like us to just cut the trees and they do the clean up themselves.
The “we cut, you clean up” option can save you substantially. This works especially
well on less visible parts of your property. The bottom line is the less time and
equipment we use the less expensive it’s going to be. We are completely open to
whatever works best for your situation, just ask us.
How/when do I pay?
We don’t request payment until the job is done and completed satisfactorily. We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard and offer 0% financing.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes we definitely offer free estimates and we will accommodate your schedule. Appointment times start at 7am and also include evenings, Saturdays and some Sundays.
How long will I have to wait for an estimate?
It depends. Often times it’s affected by Mother Nature. If we have just had a major wind storm it may be longer but we are normally very quick to respond. Many times it’s the next day. Fast service is extremely important and a high priority to us.
Do I need to be there for the estimate?
Yes as there are many factors that affect the pricing and we want to make sure our
estimate is accurate. There are issues we need to be made aware of like the exact
tree in question, location of leach fields, underground utilities, irrigation, property
lines etc. We will be there on time and depending on the complexity of your
situation it will take between 5 minutes and an hour.
Do I need to be there when the job is performed?
On a smaller job no but on a larger job we prefer you to be home for any questions
that might arise. We also request you to be present on pruning jobs. This way you
can make sure you’re getting the correct shape and size as you had envisioned.
What can I do about a neighbor’s tree that is hanging over my property?
This can be a tricky situation. In the State of NH you’re allowed to cut to the propery line as long as you don’t jeopardize the health of the tree. We strongly recommend you speak to your neighbor for permission first and to notify them of any hazardous conditions that exist on your side of the property. This will hopefully avoid any conflicts. If that isn’t possible we advise you to send a certified return receipt letter trying to explain the situation and your proposed corrective action.
What kind of lawn/property damage will there be?
Our goal is to leave your property as close as to the original condition as possible but each job is unique. We have many different methods depending on your particular requirements. We can use a crane, tree climbers or a roping system to get the tree down. We can also put down plywood under the truck to reduce tire ruts or schedule a job in the winter when the ground is frozen. We take great care to minimize any potential damage.
How do I know if a tree needs to be removed or if it can be saved?
It can be very difficult for you to tell. We recommend you have a professional like us
come to inspect the tree. We will look for such clues as insect damage, bore holes,
base rot and leaf damage. We will base our opinion on our years of experience and
give you advice on whether it should be removed or can be saved.
Do you spray trees or treat for insects?
No, that’s pretty much one of the only tree related services we don’t currently offer.
Do you grind stumps?
Yes we do but it’s a separate charge. You may or may not need this depending on
the location of your tree.
Can I keep the wood for firewood?
Yes we’ll cut any wood that you would like left behind to firewood length at no additional charge.
Do you offer trimming, shaping services?
Yes but different types of trees should be trimmed at different times of the year. If you’re unsure call us and we’ll be happy to schedule this appropriately. In general, you can shape or trim a deciduous tree after it has lost it’s foliage in the spring, fall or winter. Ornamentals and fruit trees are best done in the warm weather.
Can you remove trees year round?
Yes we can complete these jobs all year.
Is clean up included in your estimates?
Yes unless otherwise specified. We pride ourselves in our clean up. We want to make your property look as though we were never there. Although as mentioned in the how to save money question above you can save substantially by having us only do the cutting and you do the clean up.
Do you offer yard expansions?
Yes we do many of these. If you’re looking for one stop shopping we can even bring in loam and seed if your project requires it.
What type of questions should I be asking when hiring a tree company?
I would recommend asking about their experience. Ask how many years they have
been doing this line of work. Also make sure the estimate includes everything and is
guaranteed. But maybe most importantly find out about their insurance coverage.
Make sure they carry liability as well as workers' compensation. You want to have
peace of mind that your property is fully covered. The last component is more
subjective. Did you feel comfortable with the company representative? Did they
seem professional and make you feel good about their integrity and openness to
questions. Did you feel you can trust them?
Thanks again for visiting our web site. I hope this has answered many of your
questions. Please call us for questions or to schedule a free estimate any time.
